Michel Helbig de Balzac
Michel Helbig de Balzac is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Nausicaa Ventures.
He is also Co-Founder and Managing Partner of BAMS Angels Fund I SCA, an early stage investment fund founded in 2005. As the Chairman of EDORA, the Walloon Federation for Renewable Energies, M. Helbig de Balzac has also been involved in renewable energy development projects for more than a decade.
M. Helbig de Balzac is the owner of Wagram Invest SA and a seasoned business angel. Prior to Nausicaa Ventures, he was a Director at Banque Dewaay in charge of private banking projects and spent nine years at McKinsey & Company as a consultant and then as Head of Administration.
M. Helbig de Balzac holds degrees in philosophy, economics and political sciences from the University of Louvain (Belgium), where he also received a Master’s degree in urban and regional planning and a post-graduate degree in European studies.
Maurice Olivier
Maurice Olivier (through Madian SA) is a Co-founder and General Partner of Nausicaa Ventures.
He is also a Co-founder of BAMS Angels Fund I SCA, an early stage investment fund founded in 2005, and an associated partner with BlueOcean Ventures, a Geneva-based group dedicated to funding and mentoring high-technology companies. M. Olivier also chairs the Board of Trustees of HEC Management School – University of Liege.
Until 2002, he was Senior Vice President Europe and India at Cambridge Technology Partners, Inc. a global e-business systems integrator. Prior to that, he spent 17 years with the strategy and technology consultancy of Arthur D. Little, most recently as Senior Vice President Europe and Asia.
Maurice Olivier holds an MS in Management from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and an MS in Engineering from the University of Liege (Belgium).
Bart Luyten
Bart Luyten is a General Partner of Nausicaa Ventures, overseeing the fund’s activities in Flanders, The Netherlands and the UK.
Bart Luyten is also Co-Founder and Managing Partner two later-stage private equity funds: SmartFin Capital and Sniper Investments. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Millennia Partners II (Boston, MA), a venture capital group he was associated with earlier in his career.
He holds a degree in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp (UFSIA, Belgium) and a post-graduate Master’s degree in SME management from the same university.
Edouard Grutering
Edouard Grutering (through AlphaQuest sprl) is a General Partner of Nausicaa Ventures.
Prior to joining Nausicaa Ventures, M. Grutering worked as an analyst with an energy consultancy firm.
He holds a Master’s degree in International Business and Management from ICHEC (Belgium), and an Master of Art’s degree in International Finance and International Energy Policy from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (Baltimore, MD).
